2016 was a rough year for our fan-girling hearts, with Big Boss (Song Joong-Ki) who kept us singing, “You’re My Everything” and Gong Yoo who had our heads dizzying with his runway-ready profile. And thus far, in 2017, I haven’t met another story to keep my Korean Drama-obsessed heart satisfied. (NETFLIX! Hurry up and release Park Hae-Jin’s Man x Man!)
Goblin: The Great & Lonely God, saw an especially incredible run for TvN in late last year, with its record breaking 20.5% viewership in TV ratings (despite TvN being a cable channel!) and Gong Yoo’s rise in stardom as the face of Korean entertainment. (From those of us who have loved Gong Yoo since his debut as a model – y’all are so late to this party, so don’t even.)
So what’s a girl to do when there’s so much to stream, but I just want more of Goblin?
Luckily for us, there’s still much romance, comedy, and heartache to discover between our ill-fated and tragically good looking Grim Reaper, Lee Dong-Wook, and the beautiful and lonely Goblin, Gong Yoo.
Check out these 4 titles that are guaranteed ease your K-drama obsession now!
- Scent of a Woman – Starring Lee Dong-Wook as a Chebol who falls in love with an “average” older woman who is looking at the last 6 months of her life due to cancer. I cried and laughed SO MUCH throughout this series. If you loved Kim Sam-Soon, you will love this K-drama classic.
- My Girl – The romantic comedy that launched Lee Dong-Wook to stardom! This classic Korean Rom-com is a MUST for anyone who is a Lee Dong-Wook fan. You’ll laugh so hard!! Plus, it stars Lee Joon-Ki in his breakout role. (He was amazing in this!)
- Big – Starring Gong Yoo as a teenager trapped in the body of his teacher’s fiance, this romantic comedy has us asking, “is age really just a number?” and “do we need to ever settle if our hearts tell us otherwise?”
- Coffee Prince – Yes, it has Gong Yoo, and yes, it’s a Korean staple of gender-bender romance. But no, it’s unlike any other Romcoms and Gender-Beding anything you’ve ever watched. We guarantee that you will LOVE it. PLEASE just watch it if you haven’t.
