Three gorgeous actresses represented Korean entertainment at the 2016 Cannes Film festival, with Chun Woo-Hee, Kim Min-Hee, and Jeong Yu-Mi, starring in movies The Wailing, The Handmaiden, and Road to Busan.
Park Chan-wook’s bold new film is a lesbian love story thriller based on Sarah Waters’s novel Fingersmith, but set in 1930s Korea, during the Japanese occupation. The star of the film, Kim Min-Hee, graced the Cannes red carpet in 2016 Pre-Fall Chanel. This thriller from Park Chan-wook has sold to 175 territories, beating out ‘Snowpiercer’ to become the most widely distributed Korean film in history.
Train to Busan
Perhaps the most crowd pleasing and widely anticipated film, Train to Busan, is the first Korean zombie horror/thriller by Director Yeon Sang-ho. It stars Jung Yoo-Mi opposite our favorite Korean actor (for his acting skills, his graceful mannerisms, his boyish almost perfect face, and his perfectly toned body, eh hem…and the list goes on) Gong Yoo.
Gong Yoo was wearing a Lanvin shirt at the event (it doesn’t really matter what he wears because he looks perfect anyways, but Lanvin was his choice of the day!) Jung Yoo-Mi was seen wearing the Andy & Debb black one-piece dress.
We can’t wait until these movies are available in North America!
